Annex VIII to CLP - harmonised information for emergency health counselling

Since 1.1.2021 Annex VIII to CLP applies in Austria. In order to fulfil the obligations according to Art. 45 CLP, a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) has to be submitted to ECHA for mixtures intended for private or professional use.

Thus, after 31.12.2020 you can only place such mixtures on the Austrian market, if you have submitted the PCN information to the ECHA submission portal and the submission is accepted by ECHA (“successful submission”). Additionally, you have to fix an UFI code onto the containers of your mixtures.

For mixtures intended for industrial use only, or mixtures with an end use not subject to notification, it is possible to submit Safety Data Sheets (SDS) until 31.12.2023 to the Austrian Environment Agency and the Austrian Poison Information Centre (VIZ) to fulfil Art. 45 CLP in Austria.

Transitional period (for Austria): If safety data sheets are/have been submitted to the Environment Agency Austria and to the Austrian Poison Information Centre until the dates given in Annex VIII, Part A Section 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 respectively, your company can benefit from the derogation indicated in Part A section 1.4 of Annex VIII to CLP.
